Female Experts to be Employed in Regional Departments of Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau following Public Defender’s Recommendation
The Public Defender welcomes the readiness of Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau to comply with the Public Defender's recommendation and employ female experts in the regional departments of the Bureau in order to create an equal and dignified environment for female victims of sexual violence, as well as to conduct trainings for the staff of Tbilisi and regional offices on the psychological aspects of proper communication with victims of sexual violence.
According to the recommendation of the Public Defender, it was problematic that in some cases, female victims of sexual violence, despite their legal right, were examined by men, due to the lack of female experts, which caused additional stress for the victims. The applicant's interests were represented in the Public Defender's Office by the Women's Initiatives Supportive Group (WISG).
It should be noted that equality of individual groups can be achieved through the involvement of all stakeholders. The Public Defender is ready to provide trainings for the staff of the Bureau and hopes that more government agencies and private companies will show examples of similar successful cooperation in the future.
