Meeting of Consultative Council of the National Preventive Mechanism

On May 3, 2016, the Consultative Council of the National Preventive Mechanism held its sixth meeting. The National Preventive Mechanism’s activity report of the first quarter of 2016 was presented at the meeting.

The meeting participants talked about the issues reflected in the Public Defender's parliamentary report of 2015, including the challenges in the penitentiary system and the monitoring results of closed institutions, as well as the activities and surveys planned for 2016.

Members of the Consultative Council presented their views to the Public Defender about the National Preventive Mechanism activities, reports, working methodology and other important issues.

The Consultative Council of the National Preventive Mechanism, composed of Public Defender, Deputies of the Public Defender, Heads of Departments of the Public Defender's Office and invited experts, was set up by the Public Defender’s order of December 15, 2014, for the purpose of promotion of the effectiveness of the National Preventive Mechanism activities in the field of prevention of torture and other ill-treatment.
