Monitoring Report on Service Facilities (Shelters) for Victims of Domestic Violence and Trafficking 2022

The special report presents the results of the monitoring carried out by the Gender Department of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia in all state shelters and crisis centers operating in Georgia.

In 2021, the Gender Department of the Public Defender's Office of Georgia, with the support of the UN Women, inspected shelters and crisis centers for victims of domestic violence and trafficking. Monitoring members visited the shelters of Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Gori and Sighnaghi, as well as the crisis centers of Tbilisi, Gori, Kutaisi, Ozurgeti and Marneuli.

In addition, the Public Defender's Office of Georgia carried out repeated monitoring in 2021 in all state shelters and crisis centers operating in Georgia in order to check the indicators of implementation of recommendations and correction of deficiencies identified during the 2021 monitoring.

We hope that the shortcomings revealed as a result of the monitoring will help state agencies to improve the provision of services to victims of violence.
