Working Meeting on the Improvement of Tools for Monitoring the Rights Situation of Prisoners with Mental Health Problems

On 5-6 March 2019, a working meeting was held within the framework of the Council of Europe project "Improvement of Mental Health Care of Disabled Persons Deprived of their Liberty". The aim of the meeting was to develop and improve tools for monitoring the rights situation of prisoners with mental health problems in the penitentiary system.

The meeting was attended by the employees of the Public Defender’s National Preventive Mechanism (Department), Department of Criminal Justice, Department of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a health care expert and an expert-psychiatrist.

The Public Defender and the Special Preventive Group would like to thank the Council of Europe for the assistance. The monitoring tools developed during the meeting will significantly help the Public Defender's Office and the Special Preventive Group in monitoring the rights situation of persons with mental health problems in the penitentiary system.
