Meeting with participants of International Training

On 22 May 2014, the Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, Mr. Paata Beltadze met with representatives of South Sudan, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Liberia participating in the international program "Women, Peace and Security" of Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.

The aim of the meeting was to inform the participants about the mandate, functions and activities of Public Defender. After the presentation, the participants had an opportunity to ask questions on the interesting issues about the human rights situation and a role the office plays in the protection and advocacy of human rights. The issues of Gender Equality, Anti-discrimination law, fulfilment of ombudsman’s recommendations, NPM were discussed at the meeting.

It should be noted that the program "Women, Peace and Security" lasts for 5 weeks and aims at involving women in peace-building processes on more regular basis and identifying special needs for women in conflict and post - conflict societies.
