Meeting with Families Living in Baghdati Municipality

On February 21, 2020, Ekaterine Skhiladze, Deputy Public Defender of Georgia, and Madona Basiladze, Head of the Western Georgia Division of the Public Defender's Office, visited the families living in the former printing house in Baghdati and received information about their needs.

About ten families live in the former printing house under poor conditions, many of whom are socially vulnerable. Children and older people live in difficult living environment.

In 2012, the Baghdati municipality transferred the living spaces to the families for a symbolic price – GEL 1. However, the building is damaged. Doors and windows need to be replaced; the corridor, staircase, railing, yard and facade of the building are out of order. Not all families are supplied with water. The residents are mostly socially vulnerable and have no financial resources to improve their living conditions.
