Working Meeting on Iissues relating to Deaf and Blind Persons

On 6 September 2019, the Public Defender's Office of Georgia and Human DOC organized a working meeting on issues relating to the deaf and blind persons. The main purpose of the meeting was to reach an agreement on the definition and terminology relating to the mentioned persons with the involvement of representatives of the community, experts, the Institute of Linguistics and Polish partners.

The Polish experience in the field of state policy and legislation for the deaf and blind persons was presented at the event.

Participants of the meeting discussed challenges relating to the terminology in Georgia and agreed that the discussion on these issues would continue in the format of working meetings with the involvement of all stakeholders.

The meeting was held within the framework of the project - "Creating Supportive System for the Deaf and Blind People in Georgia" – that is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland in Georgia.
