Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions in Geneva

The Public Defender of Georgia is in Geneva with the official visit where he participated in the 28th Annual Meeting of the International Coordinating Committee of the National Human Rights Institutions held in the UN office. Representatives of the National Human Rights Institutions discussed challenges existing in human rights area in various counties.

The Public Defender also participated in the meeting of the General Assembly of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions where they adopted a special statement on importance of peaceful resolution of the conflict and protection of human rights in Ukraine. One of the first among those who supported the statement was the Public Defender of Georgia. He noted that against the background of the events developing in Ukraine, he considered that expressing solidarity on the part of ombudsmen of European countries and support for ensuring protection of human rights was very important.

The Public Defender held working meetings at the financial and coordinating committees of the European network of National Human Rights Institutions, member of which the Public Defender of Georgia has been for two years.
