Public Defender's Office Shifts to Emergency Mode due to Coronavirus Pandemic

In accordance with the recommendation issued by the Georgian Government after pandemic was declared by the World Health Organization, the Public Defender's Office made a decision to switch to the emergency mode from March 16, meaning a remote working mode for most of its staff. The above does not apply to the activities of the Public Defender and the Deputies of the Public Defender, as well as to the employees whose presence in the office is necessary for continous implementation of the constitutional mandate of the Public Defender's Office (including for paying visits to closed institutions).

In addition, until the Government does not issue different recommendations, reception of citizens will be suspended in central and regional offices. Citizens will be able to send complaints and applications electronically or via hotline for 24 hours.

The Public Defender's Office of Georgia can be reached via email - info@ombudsman.ge or hotline -1481.
