Public Defender Holds Meeting of Consultative Council for Monitoring Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On December 21, 2015, the Consultative Council for monitoring the promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its third working meeting/session. The meeting was attended by Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili, Deputy Public Defender Paata Beltadze, representatives of the Public Defender’s Office and invited members of the Council.

The agenda of the meeting included the following issues: results of the trainings held within the framework of the monitoring mechanism of promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and their reflection in the future plans, definition of sources of information and/or potential partners, presentation and consideration of the draft action plan for monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The action plan for the nearest months of 2016-2017 for monitoring the promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, including development of monitoring methodology, search for sources of information and resources, conduction of survey and monitoring fieldwork, was planned at the meeting.

The next meeting of the Council will be held within the next two months and the progress of the monitoring of promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention will be discussed.
