Meeting of Consultative Council for Monitoring Promotion, Protection and Implementation of Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On June 21, 2016, the Consultative Council for Monitoring the Promotion, Protection and Implementation of the Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its sixth working meeting. Public Defender Ucha Nanuashvili, representatives of the Public Defender’s Office and invited members of the Council attended the meeting.

The session was opened by the Public Defender. Agenda of the meeting included the following issues: the implemented and planned measures for the promotion, protection and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the secondary data for the monitoring report of the implementation of the Convention and the areas where it is necessary to gather additional information.

Council members agreed on to announce a contest in the near future for the vacant positions of invited members of the Consultative Council.

At the end of the meeting, discussion was held about the rights of persons with disabilities and various issues related to the monitoring of the UN Convention.
